My Game is Playable

Been working for awhile on my game and now it is ready to be played! ^^ I posted it at an online game site All Blocked In

The game was made from the scratch with in Unity3d with a little help from Blender and the GIMP. Unity3d is a pretty amazing tool. With Unity my code can run on MacOSX, Windows, on mobile devices, and in a web browser. Mainly used Java-script, but one source file was written in C#.

Look forward to the next game (with an actual story(point)), as well as comments and suggestions.http://www.kongregate.com/games/SP_Otaku/all-blocked-in

VLC Movie Creater

VideoLAN CLient should need no introduction, but will share some of it's features for those who don't know. VLC is a media player, it plays just about every video and audio format that anyone would come across. Not only does it play media but if it can read it then it can change it in to another file type, or can be set-up as a media server accessible with all kinds of devices from pc to mobile.
Big Buck Bunny
  • Simple, Powerful and Fast
  • Plays everything, Files, Discs and Streams
  • No codec packs needed
  • Completely Free
  • 0 Spyware, Ads or User Tracking
  • Media Converter and Streamer
  • Windows, Linux, Mac, Unix
The media player that fulfills all your needs. It handles DVDs, (S)VCDs, Audio CDs, web streams, TV cards and much more. With VLC, there is no need to continually update many different codec packs. VLC comes with nearly every codec built in! And whats more, VLC can play back your files, even if the media is damaged! Missing or broken pieces wont stop VLC. All the video and audio information that remains can be played.

Not only that but this Open Source Project was initially released February 1 2001. It is so rock solid and stable that it has been licensed by several companies for use in commercial projects. Google Video (their embedded player) is a VLC plugin in your browser.

So now as someone who knows about the power of VLC or has been using it for years, it is only natural to be excited to hear that the developer have announced are currently developing a non-linear video editor. Which of course should be user friendly.

It is now at a point in it's development where it needs the community to use the software and report bugs. At the time of writing VLMC 0.1.0 is available for Linux, Mac, and Windows. while at this stage just remember that there is gonna be bugs, but that doesn't mean if you don't saving often( after every edit being paranoid LOL) a video can be made.

Brain Party (Game)

Have come across a cool brain training game it is called Brain Party

Brain Party is a fun, free puzzle game for all the family that's made up of 36 minigames designed to push your brain to its limits by testing memory, logic, mathematics, reaction time and more! Brain Party is split into two modes: test mode gives you five minigames in a row and adds up your brain weight to see how smart you are, and practise mode lets you play your favourite minigames as often as you want. If you do well enough, there are six extra minigames that can be unlocked as well as a new game mode designed to keep you playing and enjoying your favourite games even longer

Brain Party is licensed under the GPLv3 and is compatible with Linux and Mac OS X - it's free to download, share and enjoy. To get started, download the source code from the link below, then extract the tarball and run "make". Have fun!

Developers: The latest development version of Brain Party is available on Launchpad. If you want to contribute fixes, please use that version.

This game is also for sale in the Iphone/Ipad appstore for $0.99, if you enjoy the game support the developer by purchasing it.

Blender is Amazing

Blender is an amazing program that started as a commercial program but was donated to the Open Source Community. They knew if they open sourced the developement (made it free) and sold the manual everyone would benefit. Not to say someone has to pay to learn to use blender, on the contrary, there is tons of great free learning material. Personally enjoy the tutorials from Andrew Price the BlenderGuru. The image was made with help from Andrew, followed the intro to compositing, to get the effect on the text, he makes good tutorials that were easy to follow. Definitely returning to his site for all blender related questions.

Currently under a major overhaul the application has tons of new features, and has even made it's way into Hollywood. Have read that it was used in the production of one of the Lord of the Rings films, and don't doubt it.

Here is production from the Blender Foundation.
"Sintel" is an independently produced short film, initiated by the Blender Foundation as a means to further improve and validate the free/open source 3D creation suite Blender. With initial funding provided by 1000s of donations via the internet community, it has again proven to be a viable development model for both open 3D technology as for independent animation film.
This 15 minute film has been realized in the studio of the Amsterdam Blender Institute, by an international team of artists and developers. In addition to that, several crucial technical and creative targets have been realized online, by developers and artists and teams all over the world.

For a detailed list of features check out Blender's website,

Blender is easy to install, has a relatively small installation size, and runs on several popular computing platforms, including Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows, along with FreeBSD, IRIX, NetBSD, OpenBSD and Solaris. Unofficial ports are also available for AmigaOS 4, BeOS, MorphOS , Pocket PC and SkyOS. Though it is often distributed without documentation or extensive example scenes, the software contains features that are characteristic of high-end modeling software. Among its capabilities are:
  • Basic non-linear video/audio editing and compositing capabilities.
  • Support for a variety of geometric primitives, including polygon meshes, fast subdivision surface modeling, Bezier curves, NURBS surfaces, metaballs, digital sculpting, and outline fonts.
  • Versatile internal rendering capabilities and integration with YafaRay, a Free Software ray tracer.
  • Keyframed animation tools including inverse kinematics, armature (skeletal), hook, curve and lattice-based deformations, shape keys (morphing), non-linear animation, constraints, vertex weighting, soft body dynamics including mesh collision detection, LBM fluid dynamics, Bullet rigid body dynamics, particle-based hair, and a particle system with collision detection.
  • Modifiers to apply non-destructive effects.
  • Python scripting for tool creation and prototyping, game logic, importing and exporting from other formats such as OBJ, FBX, DXF, COLLADA, task automation and custom tools.
  • Game Blender, a sub-project, offers interactivity features such as collision detection, dynamics engine, and programmable logic. It also allows the creation of stand-alone, real-time applications ranging from architectural visualization to video game construction.
  • A fully-integrated node-based compositor within the rendering pipeline
